York County man arrested in Maryland on rape charges

United States Marshals  arrested a York County man in Maryland on Friday after he , according to a U.S. Department of Justice press release.

Irvin Jerant Baker, 31, had been on the run since Jan. 7,  when Southwestern Regional Police Department filed charges against him, including rape, sexual assault, and corruption of minors, the release states. Baker allegedly sexually assaulted the victim, who was under the age of 18, in February 2014, according to the release.

A marshals task force apprehended Baker without incident at  a home in the 100 block of West Main Street in Westminster, Maryland, the release states.   He was arrested and turned over to Maryland authorities to be charged as a fugitive-from-justice and await extradition proceedings.
