For Lance Strous of Mechanicsburg, thoughts of warm weather are what get him through the day.

"We got to think Spring. I was inside mostly all day with shorts on," said Strous.

With one storm already hitting our area and another on the way, PennDOT says it's not taking any chances. "We will have night patrols in every one of the counties who will be going around and checking for spots that may be icy," said Fritzi Schreffler, PennDOT Safety Press Officer.

Overnight crews will work in 12-hour shifts. Four to six drivers will patrol in each county depending on the snow fall, which is expected to pick up again Sunday. Crews will fill up their trucks, run safety checks and make sure they have enough salt before heading out. With 97,000 tons of salt and another 7,000 on order -- there's no shortage.

"We will do full call outs. We should be up and running by six o'clock tomorrow night unless anything changes and the storm comes in quicker," said Schreffler.

And that's why PennDOT is urging caution on the roads and for people to drive at a slower speed especially with potential for ice overnight.

And be mindful of plow drivers clearing the way. "If you see salt coming out of the back of the vehicle stay back because if nothing else you don't want that bouncing off your car as well," said Schreffler.
