SHORT REPRIEVE

We’re currently in-between systems, but it is a short break before the next one’s arrival. Skies are partly cloudy through the night. Overnight low temperatures in the middle 20s to lower 30s create icy areas, especially in locations that saw plenty of melting earlier this afternoon. Treat any wet areas as if it were ice. Clouds quickly thicken as our next system, a clipper, quickly arrives from the west. Most of the day is dry and quiet with high temperatures in the middle to upper 30s.

MORE SNOW!

Short reprieve before more snow

Close to sunset on Sunday, some snow showers begin to enter to the west. Depending on temperatures, some rain could briefly mix in at the start. However, with temperatures quickly falling during the evening, don’t expect any to last long. Snow showers quickly become a light snow through the overnight period. The snow piles up quickly because it will be a light, fluffy snow due to temperatures in the 20s. By daybreak, there will be an areawide 2 to 5 inches. During the afternoon hours, the light snow turns back to snow showers. Total accumulations range from 4 to 8 inches. As the clipper moves out to sea Monday night into Tuesday, it will develop into a major coastal storm. We’ll be watching to see if it tracks closer to us, in which case it could mean more accumulating snow across the region.

FRIGID AIR STAYS

Wednesday we finally catch a break. Sunshine returns, but the cold remains. Expect highs in the middle to upper 20s. Another weak clipper could bring another burst of light snow to the region Thursday night into Friday morning. This one is a fast mover, and is out of here by Friday afternoon. Temperatures are in the lower to middle 30s both days. The upcoming weekend is looking dry to start, but temperatures fall back to more frigid readings.
