UPDATE: Crews respond to a fire at an Adams County home

UPDATE: A fire broke out in the basement of a house along the 1400 block of New Chester road in Straban Township. Officials say it happened just before 3:00 this morning. One man was inside the house at the time, but was able to get out safely. A firefighter however was taken to a local hospital for evaluation after falling through a hole on the first floor. His injuries are believed to be minor at this time. Officials say a preliminary investigation shows a wood stove may have caused the fire.


Firefighters were on the scene of a house fire in Straban Township, Adams County.

Officials say flames broke out shortly before 3 o'clock Thursday morning along the 14- hundred block of New Chester Road.
 We are told the fire started in the basement of the house. There have been no reports of injuries at this time and the fire is now
under control.
