COLD AHEAD OF STORM

Overall expect plenty of cold air once again through the evening hours and the overnight period. Clouds quickly thicken through the overnight period as a storm system out west takes shape and pushes east. Overnight low temperatures fall into the teens, but then slowly creep up close to daybreak. The clouds stay with us Sunday morning, and temperatures are quick to rise into the 20s. Winter Storm Warnings and Winter Weather Advisories go into effect at 9 A.M. as the onset of precipitation from this next system draws closer.

As early as 10 A.M. to noon, some light snow showers enter the region. It turns into a light snow through the afternoon. Through the evening, mixing with sleet, freezing rain, and rain takes place from south to north. Through the overnight period, a wintry mix/rain combination continues, with the most rain along the southern half of our region, and the most mixing to the north. The wintry mix/rain combination tapers by 9 A.M. Monday morning. Temperatures peak in the middle to upper 30s during the morning, then rapidly fall into the 20s during the afternoon.

MORE FRIGID AIR AHEAD

Plenty more cold air is here to stay across the region through the rest of the week. After a start in the single digits on Tuesday, highs reach the lower 20s under partly cloudy skies. The chance for snow showers comes again on Wednesday, with temperatures less cold in the lower to m idle 30s. Then, it’s yet another burst of frigid air, knocking temperatures into the teens to near 20 degrees on Thursday. We’re slow to moderate leading into the upcoming weekend. Temperatures are near 30 degrees on Saturday with a few snow showers possible.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
