Police in Lancaster have arrested a couple and placed their two children in protective custody after discovering drugs and related paraphernalia inside their home.

Jared Madonna, 31, and Tara Gabriel, 30, were arrested Friday morning at their home along the  100 block of Prospect Street.

Police issued a search warrant soon after receiving numerous community complaints of drug activity taking place at the home.

During the search, officers seized an undisclosed amount of heroin along with drug-related paraphernalia such as hypodermic needles, razor blades and drug packaging materials.

Two children, ages 2 and 10, were found inside the home at the time of the search. Both are now in custody of the Lancaster County Children and Youth Agency.

Both Madonna and Gabriel have been charged with endangering welfare of children, possession of a controlled substance for heroin and prescription medications, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
