The deadline to sign up for insurance under the Affordable Health Care Act is just a few days away.

The open enrollment period on HealthCare.Gov ends Sunday, February 15th.

As of February 6, nearly 7.5 million people had signed up for health care plans; more than 438,000 of those people were from Pennsylvania.

That’s according to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

Officials with the Health Insurance Marketplace are expecting and preparing for a last minute rush.

More than 14,000 call center workers are on-hand, ready to help deal with the late onslaught of people signing up this week; that’s up 40% compared to last year.

Those who are still uninsured by the end of this weekend will face a hefty-fine including a tax penalty of 2% of their yearly household income or $325 dollars, whichever amount is higher.

The last day to enroll is February 15th.
