WINTERWX

NEAR RECORD:  We’re amidst some of the coldest air in a long time and near a record low around 0° this morning.  Winds make for dangerous wind chills down to -20° this morning.  The arctic cold air stays in place for this Presidents Day with highs only in the middle teens despite the sunshine.  Winds will slowly relax through the day.

HBH

QUICK SNOW: A storm system to our south will bring a 12 hour period of snow, starting this evening, lasting overnight, with it tapering around daybreak Tuesday.  The atmosphere is very cold with makes the snow a bit fluffy.  We’re expecting a coating to 2” around the I-80 corridor, with much of our are seeing 2-6”.  A few spots south of the US-30 corridor may see about 6” or more.

SNOWMAP

MIDWEEK:  By Tuesday, highs bump to the middle 20s, still well below average.  We’re mostly cloudy breaking for some sun at times.   Wednesday, we move to the upper 20s. Another arctic front approaches so expect mostly cloudy skies and some more snow showers.

3 Day Planner

MORE ARCTIC AIR:  We close out the week with another arctic blast.  Highs are back to the middle teens for Thursday and Friday with lows in the single digits.  Wind chills will play a role again.

WEEKEND:  We’re back to the middle 20s on Saturday as we cloud up ahead of the next storm system.  Sunday, we’re watching the chance for some rain and snow mix as some warmer air tries to nudge in with the next system.  Highs are in the middle 30s for now.

Stay warm today!  Have a marvelous Presidents Day!
