Schuylkill County woman charged with animal cruelty after horse dies

LEBANON CO., PA (WPMT) A Schuylkill County woman faces animal cruelty charges following the death of her horse.  State Police in Lebanon County say Michell Melcher, 39, of Pine Grove, failed to provide adequate food, water, veterinary care and shelter for her 20 year old horse that she was boarding in Jonestown.

Melcher failed to comply with Humane Society requests for caring for the horse. The investigating officer said the horse became extremely emaciated and eventually died from lack of care.

Charges against Melcher include Cruelty to Animals and Disorderly Conduct.
