YORK COUNTY, PA (WPMT) York College of Pennsylvania is no long on an online list of top 25 most dangerous colleges in the United States.  An online research engine, FindTheBest released a list earlier this month that included York College among the nation’s most dangerous colleges.  The list is based on analyzed data on crime reports at U.S. colleges submitted to the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Postsecondary Education (OPE).

But after questions about its data and methodology FindTheBest removed York College from the list and issued this apology:

“We identified an error in the original analysis of the data used in the Feb. 3, 2015 report on dangerous colleges in the United States, which resulted in an incorrect ranking of colleges. The following is an updated report which has corrected the previous error, clarified the criteria and methodology used, and resulted in a new ranking.

We’ve reached out to the various publications that ran stories using the original data to provide them with the updated rankings.

We sincerely apologize for any confusion and inconvenience this data issue has caused.”

York College of Pennsylvania, founded in 1787, is a private, co-ed, four year college with 4,600 full time undergraduate students.
