CUMBERLAND COUNTY, PA (WPMT)  The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office has received numerous phone calls from residents reporting individuals calling claiming to be the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office and demanding payment for some type of fine, fee or delinquent taxes.

The calling party states they must receive payment or face arrest and attempt to have individuals provide payment over the phone in some manner.

It is not the practice of the Cumberland Sheriff’s Office to make such phone calls and payments of any owed fines, fees or delinquent taxes are never taken over the phone but rather at the Courthouse.

Anyone receiving such phone calls should not give any personal or payment information to the caller and should immediately report the incident to local law enforcement.
