PennDOT officials are keeping drivers informed as yet another batch of winter weather makes its way into Central Pennsylvania. PennDOT has reduced speeds on interstates to 45 miles per hour. The change is expected to last through at least midnight or until temperatures rise above freezing and roads are clear. As crews do their part, PennDOT officials ask drivers to do theirs…and slow down.

Fritzi Schreffler, PennDOT spokesperson, says, “It’s seems like a simple thing to tell people but obviously we can tell that people aren’t. Slowdown, don’t tailgate if you need to hit those brakes, you don’t want to hit them hard.”

As for salt stock? Crews use 2500 tons of salt per event in the eight county area. Plus, the salt taverns are stocked with 60,000 tons of salt to last the rest of the winter.
