A man is dead after driving his car off a bridge on Business 83 and falling roughly fifty feet to the ground below in York Township. The victim drove his black Lexus over the guardrail and was going so fast that he launched himself right off the bridge. The car fell near Powder Mill Road, between South George Street and Tyler Run Road. The car then flipped over before finally coming to a stop. York County’s Deputy Coroner Jeffri Goodfellow said the vehicle had “extremely massive damage.”

First responders described scratch marks on the guardrail that the victim drove over. Officials aren’t releasing his name until they can notify the family and, at this point, it’s unclear exactly why he drove off the bridge. People driving on the road below saw the car hit the ground. “The police officer had just driven past here and those people witnessed it and stopped him right away and sent him back to it so he was here within a minute,” said Goodfellow. Despite the quick response time the man was pronounced dead on the scene.
