UPDATE:

Police have identified the pedestrian killed in the accident as 16 year-old Antonio Hernandez from Lebanon.

The preliminary investigation has determined the male disregarded the crossing gates and lights and attempted to run across the tracks as the train approached and was struck. At this point in the investigation there is no indication of foul play.

The investigation is ongoing.

The Lebanon City Police Dept is being assisted in the investigation by the Norfolk Southern Police and the Lebanon County Coroner.

Lebanon, PA –A 16 year-old boy was struck and killed by a train early this morning in Lebanon. It happened around 6:42am at the railroad crossing on N 7th St. The victim was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.

Police say it looks as though a westbound train struck the pedestrian as he crossed the tracks north to south. A witness indicated that the warning gates were operational and the pedestrian was struck as he ran across the tracks.

The victim has been identified as a student in the Lebanon School District.

Police are looking for additional witnesses to the incident. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Lebanon City Police Dept.
