The owner of a Berks County gym is in jail on charges of drug trafficking. Duane Curley, 46, owner of DC Fitness, is charged Possession; Possession With Intent to Deliver Cocaine, Methamphetamine, and Anabolic Steroids. Berks County Drug Task Force detectives launched an investigation last April after receiving complaints of suspected drug trafficking at the gym, located at 31 Catherine Street, Shillington.
Investigators say that throughout the course of the investigation, numerous drug buys were made from Curley.
Yesterday, search warrants were served by members of the Drug Task Force at the gym and at Curley’s residence 642 Maple Grove Road in Mohnton. About 50 patrons were using the gym when the warrants were served at 5:30pm.
At DC Fitness police seized 84 grams of suspected methamphetamine, 66 grams of suspected cocaine, large quantity of oral and injectable anabolic steroids, large quantities of unused syringes, and drug-related paraphernalia associated with the distribution of controlled substances, and $570.00 of U.S. currency believed to be proceeds from previous sales of the illegal controlled substances.
At Curley’s home, police found a small amount of suspected cocaine, large quantities of oral and injectable anabolic steroids, and large quantities of unused syringes.
Curley was arrested and transported to the Berks County Sheriff’s Central Processing Unit for processing and preliminary arraignment. He was then transported to Berks County Jail System in lieu of $250,000.
