…A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY is in effect for our region through 6PM today…

MORE SNOW:  As the final hours of our winter pass, the season brings its final punch today.  It won’t be a knock-out, but we do have snow in the forecast all day.  Expect the snow to move in and pick up in intensity through 8AM today.  The heaviest snow will fall from 10AM-2PM, with light snow continuing through late afternoon.  Some spots may see some sleet and rain mixing with the snow.  It all ends between 4-6PM from west to east.  Evening plans look cloudy, but quiet as spring officially arrives.

What _to_Expect

Snow will accumulate best in the grassy areas and elevations.  Snowfall totals will generally range from 2-4” for most.  Roadways will see snow, but accumulations will be held in check for two reasons.  One, temperatures will be close to freezing on roadways instead of well below freezing.  Second, while the snow may come down at a good rate, the strong March sun angle will help to melt what lands on darker surfaces.  With that being said, watch for mainly wet roadways through the day, but some spots will be slick.

SPRING EQUINOX: Today is the start of spring.  At 6:45PM EDT, the sun’s direct rays will sit directly over the equator.  For the next six months, we’ll see the sun’s most direct rays in the northern hemisphere.  Happy Spring!

WEEKEND:  We’re mostly cloudy and milder for the first full day of spring.  Expect highs near 50° on Saturday.  A front slips through overnight, which brings a few late drops and then clears the clouds for Sunday.  It also brings cooler air.  Expect highs in the lower 40s.

Weekend Outlook

The St. Patrick’s Day parade in Harrisburg steps off at 2PM.  Expect a mainly cloudy day with temperatures in the upper 40s by parade time.  It’s dry.  Enjoy!

NEXT WEEK:  Sunshine and cool air guide us into next week.  We’ll be 5-10° below average for Monday and Tuesday.  It remains dry though.  By Wednesday, we warm to the 50s and the chance for showers arrive late, lasting into Thursday.

Make it a fantastic Friday!
