YORK COUNTY, PA (WPMT)  York College has suspended the Theta Phi Alpha sorority chapter for four years following an investigation into a hazing incident. According to college spokesperson Mary Dolheimer, said the investigation was triggered on March 9 after an off campus event that involved alcohol, several students returned to campus and some sort of “ruckus” broke out at a residence.

The hazing charge she said involved violation of our alcohol policies at an off campus gathering. About 40 members of the sorority were interviewed during the investigation. There were also individual judicial hearings.  In addition to the sorority suspension some individual sanctions were also imposed. Those sanctions range from a warning to expulsion.

York College has seven sorority and seven fraternity chapters on campus. The school has 4,600 undergraduates.
