Harrisburg Mayor Eric Papenfuse announced plans that may help drivers pay less when they park in the city.

Papenfuse discussed the details in a proposed package of incentives that will cut some parking rates on the weekend and during lunchtime. Among those incentives are 4 hours of free parking for drivers who use the parking phone application "PANGO" on Saturdays. But drivers have to use the code "LUVBUG" to get that incentive.

"If you've been thinking about maybe coming to visit Harrisburg on a Saturday, but you were concerned about the cost of parking, well I'll hope you'll use this new code," Papenfuse said.  "You'll come down and see what the city has to offer, see City Island, the Riverfront, the Whitaker Center, fine restaurants. This is an opportunity to come again and explore the city of Harrisburg."

Harrisburg City Council will vote on the proposal during a meeting Wednesday at 6p.m. If City Council approves the plan, most of the changes will start in April.
