LANCASTER CITY, PA (WPMT) Lancaster City Police arrest the former treasurer for the 7th Ward Republican for allegedly stealing more over $100,000. Linda J. Seibert, 65, of Millersville, was club treasurer for two years from 2012 to December 2014. She was responsible for record keeping and disbursement of checks and money to various non-profit organizations as well as deposits into bank accounts owned and operated by the club.
An audit early this year found that from 2013 through 2015, Seibert had completed several false deposits totaling $17,896.40. It was also discovered that Seibert wrote out a total of $104,500.00 worth of checks to herself, family members, and her roommate. It was determined that an additional $11,000.00 in checks were stolen by Seibert in 2012.
Officials of the club reported their findings to Lancaster City Police on January 26. Seibert turned herself in at the city police this morning.
Charges against Seibert include Theft by Unlawful Taking or Disposition. Following arraignment she was released on $50,000 unsecured bail.
