An officer responding to a call for an overdose victim administered Naloxone nasal spray just two days after the department began carrying the anti-overdose drug and saved the victim. It happened Wednesday evening in Conewago Township, York County. The 61 year-old victim apparently overdosed on prescription Oxycodone.

The responding Officer was equipped with an overdose kit containing Naloxone.

The victim was found unresponsive with shallow breathing. The Naloxone took effect approximately 10 seconds after the officer gave it to the victim.

The man was transported by EMS to York Hospital for further treatment.

Northern York County Regional Police Officers began carrying Naloxone on Monday March 30, 2015 as part of a countywide initiative.

The York County Naloxone program is funded by the York County District Attorney’s Office.
