The Harrisburg Diocese says Rev. Michael Messner was transferred to a rehabilitation facility in Lancaster County yesterday after making “good progress in his recovery” after a fall, according to a statement from the diocese spokesman Joe Aponick.

Messner was critically injured after falling from a balcony at Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish in Lancaster early in the morning of February 22.  A snow-removal crew found him hours later.

He had been recovering at Holy Spirit Hospital Select in Camp Hill.

“At the rehabilitation facility, Father will continue the physical and cognitive therapy and begin occupational therapy,” Aponick said in a news release. “At this time Father has no memory of the incident.”

It’s unclear when Messner will return to work at the church. The diocese encourages people to pray and send cards. The address is 558 W. Walnut St., Lancaster PA 17603.

Msgr. Richard Youtz is filling in for Messner at Sacred Heart while he recovers.
