Some volunteers from Wells Fargo Bank in York County are taking kids on a special journey… through their words.

Wells Fargo Team Members joined the children at the Crispus Attucks Early Learning Center in York to read a book to them. It’s part of the kick-off for their Reading First Program. Every Thursday for the next 10 weeks, volunteers from the bank will read aloud to pre-K through second grade classes to support early childhood literacy. After reading to the kids, they will donate the book of the day to the class.

“It mixes things up a little bit for them, because they have a routine every day,” Crispus Attucks Early Learning Center Education Coordinator Alison Sheaf said. “But, also sometimes we tell the children the same thing over and over and you know, for anybody, it`s nice to hear things from a different perspective or a different person. ”

Thousands of Wells Fargo team members across the nation have participated in the program since 1999.
