A York County man is getting ready to ride his bike around the country for charity. Brian D’Apice, 30, of Glen Rock, will start his journey in New York City. He’ll travel counter-clockwise along the perimeter of the United States, by himself. Brian plans to pedal between 10,000-11,000 miles. Along his journey, he hopes to raise money for two charities: “Pencils of Promise” and “Connecting Families.”

Brian says, "I'm excited to meet and talk to new people and just the adventure of getting through, making it happens and watching it unfold and tell people about the things I've seen."

"When you help a child, you help an entire generation," says Brian. "The children are the most important. If you can help out at a young age, it transforms their lives and the lives they affect in the future as well."

His friend and supporter, Staci Cretu says, "More people should be like him and putting yourself aside for a year to support other people and families."

Brian will start his ride in May. He hopes to raise $100,000. For more information and to donate, head to Bicycle Around America.
