HARRISBURG, PA (WPMT) A state lawmaker calls for the impeachment of suspended Lancaster City District Justice Kelly Ballentine.
The Pennsylvania Court of Judicial Discipline suspended Ballentine without pay in February for violating terms of her probation. The ruling did not affect her benefits.
The ruling resulted from a petition by the Judicial Conduct Board recommending that Ballentine be suspended as a result of her conviction for conducting sales without a license while operating her private business and failure to file individual tax returns for 2009, 2010 and 2011.
Representative Bryan Cutler is now calling for impeachment because of Ballentine’s, quote, “violations of integrity”.
Rep. Cutler says he wants to maintain the “high moral standard” demanded of a District Court Judge.
Ballentine has been a district judge since 2006. She was suspended from February 22, 2012 through May 31, 2013 and resumed her duties on June 1, 2013. She is currently serving her second six year term.
