School bus crashes while trying to avoid hitting deer in Warrington Township

WARRINGTON TOWNSHIP (WPMT)-A Northern York County School bus carrying elementary students was involved in a crash Monday morning.

It happened along Quaker Meeting Road near Winding Road in Warrington Township around 8:35 a.m.

School administrators said the bus, which had 24 Wellsville Elementary students on-board, swerved to avoid hitting a deer. No other vehicles were involved.

Another bus was sent to pick up students and take them to school. Parents were notified about the incident by school personnel.

Two students received medical attention for minor injuries, according to Vangie Unti, Supervisor of Administrative Services with Northern York County School District.

The school district contracts its bus services with Roher Bus Services.

State police are investigating the crash.
