CUMBERLAND COUNTY, PA (WPMT) Telephone calls are being placed to Cumberland County residents saying that they have missed jury duty and that there is a warrant out for their arrest. The caller asks for personal information as well as demanding that the resident report to the Cumberland County Courthouse in order to post $500 bond.
The person making the phone call claims to be a deputy from the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department. Cumberland County officials have received calls from concerned residents. Officials say the calls are not from the Jury Coordinator’s Office or the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department. The Cumberland County Courts do not issue warrants without an initial court hearing and the county does not ask for money over the phone.
