A round of showers and thunderstorms is possible Monday afternoon. A few could be on the stronger side.

SUPER SOGGY MONDAY: Showers approach the region as our next storm system edges closer. They overspread the region through the evening, turning into a steadier and heavy rain overnight. It’s expected to stay heavy through the night, so a sloppy morning commute is anticipated for Monday. Then, some dry time works in for the late morning and early afternoon. This allows the atmosphere to warm into the 70s, so as our next round of showers head this way, some thunderstorms likely form as well. A few storms could severebe on the stronger side, with damaging winds being the primary threat. Skies won’t dry out until Monday night. Some sunshine returns on Tuesday, but an upper level low pressure system sets up to the northwest. They are large, stubborn, and slow moving. This means there’s a chance for a stray shower or two on Tuesday. Highs are in the 60s.

Upper Level

The pattern turns cool for the end of the week.

COOL & UNSETTLED PATTERN: The upper level low continues to slowly drift east through the end of the week. It sits to our north, in a prime position to bubble up afternoon clouds and bring the chance for a few spotty showers. Temperatures also slowly cool as it drifts closer to us. High temperatures are near 60 Wednesday, and will likely fall into the 50s Thursday and Friday.

WEEKEND TURNAROUND: By Saturday, the low should drift far enough to the northeast to break us out of this pattern. This means more sunshine and a little warming with highs near 60. Sunday looks to bring partly cloudy skies with highs again near the 60 degree mark.

Have a great week!
