LEMOYNE (WPMT)-A struggle between two Dollar General Store employees in Cumberland County and a would-be robber Sunday ends with an arrest.

Michael S. Conway, 36, of Wormleysburg, is charged with robbery, criminal attempted robbery and theft by unlawful taking. He was arraigned and taken to Cumberland County Prison in lieu of $35,000 bail.

Officers responded to the Dollar General Store located along the 800 block of Market Street in Lemoyne for a report of an active robbery around 9:29 p.m.

A store employee told police that a man, later identified as Conway, entered the store and purchased a pack of gum. Once the cash register was opened–Conway jumped onto the counter, shoved the cashier out of the way and tried to grab the cash drawer, investigators said.

Conway fled the store empty handed after the general manager and the cashier managed to fight him off, authorities said.

West Shore Regional Police arrested Conway at South 7th and State Streets.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 6.
