It wasn't a very happy Earth Day for one family in Cumberland County after a tree fell onto their home.

Gusting wind from a fast-moving storm brought down the tree at the home of Pat McDermott, along the 100 block of 15th street in New Cumberland.   McDermott, says he was working in his garage when the tree snapped off and came crashing down on his home.

"[It] sounded like a freight train," McDermott said, "I mean literally; people talk about that and you don't have a good idea on it but when it actually happens, it was very noisy and very concerning when it happens right outside your door. "

McDermott says his mother-in-law and wife were home at the time but they were not hurt. Damage appears to be mostly to the attic. The McDermott family,  has lived in the home for 30 years but now will be temporarily staying in a hotel.
