LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. -- An early afternoon damages a popular Lancaster County tavern. The fire broke out just after 1 pm at Kinzers Station Tavern along the 3500 block of Lincoln Highway East, Paradise Township.

The first firefighters to arrive on the scene reported flames and smoke pouring from the third floor windows of the three story building. A call was made for additional tankers more water to battle the flames.  Fire police shut down the heavily traveled highway between McIvanie and Hoover Roads while fire crews battled the flames.

It took about an hour to bring the fire under control but not before the blaze gutted the third floor and heavily damaged the second.  The two floors contained apartments.  The occupants got out safely.

The first floor bar was open when the fire began but it too was safely evacuated.  The tavern suffered mostly from water damage. There is no word on when the tavern will reopen.

A Fire Marshal is investigating the exact cause of the fire.
