DETROIT — There is a new hopeful in the race for the White House.

Dr. Ben Carson (R) has confirmed Sunday, that he will be announcing his Presidential bid on Monday.

Carson is a retired neurosurgeon.

He made the announcement during a TV interview with Sinclair Broadcasting ahead of his formal campaign, which is expected to kick-off Monday in Detroit at the Music Hall Center for the Performing Arts.

Sunday’s interview was supposed to be released around the time of his formal announcement.

During the interview, Carson said, “I’m willing to be a part of the equation, and, therefore, I’m announcing my candidacy for President of the United States.”

Carson, 63, will become the fourth candidate to formally seek the Republican nomination in the 2016 race.

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio and Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul have also announced their candidacies amid a widening field.
