Gunmen open fire at Muhammad cartoon event in Texas; Shot and killed by police

UPDATE: The security officer who was shot has been identified as Bruce Joiner.

The gunmen shot him in the ankle.

He has been released from the hospital.


GARLAND, Tx. — Two men opened fire at outside of a contest for Prophet Mohammad cartoons in a Dallas suburb Sunday evening.

Police have shot and killed both of them.

According to the event’s Facebook page the men began shooting at a security guard.

The security guard was shot in the leg, there is no word on their condition at this time.
