Man accused of stealing lawn ornaments in West York

WEST YORK, Pa.–A 56-year-old man accused of stealing several lawn ornaments from yards in West York was arrested early Friday, police said.

Officers responded to the 1200 block of West Princess Street around 1 a.m. after witnesses spotted a man, later identified as Rocky Shaffer, walking down the block and stealing lawn ornaments from yards.

Investigators found Shaffer near Dewey Street. Officers questioned Shaffer and he admitted to stealing several decorations, according to police reports. Shaffer appeared to be under the influence of alcohol, authorities said.

Police believe Shaffer may be connected to similar thefts in the area.

 Residents who have had lawn ornaments stolen are asked to contact West York Police Borough Police by dialing 911.
