Junior Achievement programs are delivered by volunteers and reached 4.5 million students across the country last year. They are taught to students from Kindergarten to 12th grade. The STEM Summits are very popular with teenagers. STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. JA spends a half day at school and recently worked with the freshman class at Central Dauphin High School.
The majority of high-paying jobs will be in STEM related fields. Almost all will require advanced training. The students are discovering it can be work they really enjoy. "The glove thing we did it was more like chemistry and it was really fun," commented CD Freshman Tyler Thomas. "We got to put long lasting foam in a tub and it molds out and it becomes really warm and that was actually the coolest part of today. It's actually a really cool thing that they`re doing here and I really liked it."
