HARRISBURG, Pa. -- Hundreds of dentists, hygienists, and other volunteers are performing routine dental procedures at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex this weekend.

The event is part of the 3rd annual Mission of Mercy in Pennsylvania outreach.

More than 100 fully-equipped dental units are set up inside the complex. People who attend can receive cleans, X-rays, extractions, and root canals.

Those who are participating in the clinic say it's a great way to give back to the community by providing simple services to those who can't afford them.

"Volunteerism is not a healthcare program, but it alleviates the need," says Dr. Bill Spruill, a dentist at Spruill & Wong Dentistry in Carlisle, Cumberland County. "The patients that come through today will be better because of that. Our ability to provide care is not comprehensive, but it's the most good for the most people, and that's our gain."

The clinic continues Saturday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. It is open to everyone in Pennsylvania; there are no eligibility requirements.
