FRACKVILLE, Pa. – A Schuylkill County man is charged with attempted homicide after he rams a State Police SUV. The incident began at about 11:45 pm Thursday when two State Troopers responded to a domestic incident at a residence at 264 Ridge Road, in Union Township.  The suspect, Brad Moyer, 30 of Zion Grove, had fled the home in a 2014 Chevrolet Malibu, prior to arrival of police.

After leaving the Ridge Road location, the troopers spotted Moyer’s car stopped in front of 712 Ringtown Road.  Moyer had gotten out of the car, but then got back in and drove away.  The troopers began to follow in their 2014 Ford Interceptor SUV but soon lost sight of Moyer’s car.

Continuing on Ringtown Road as the troopers approached a crest in the road they saw headlights coming towards them.  As the car approached it accelerated and turned into their lane of travel.  The troopers accelerated and took evasive action to the right.

Moyer’s vehicle struck the troopers SUV in the driver’s side rear door.  Upon impact the cruiser spun counterclockwise and struck a tree with the passenger side of the vehicle. The Ford Interceptor was totaled.

Moyer was taken into custody without incident. He was transported to Schuylkill Medical Center South Jackson for injuries sustained from the crash.   Both troopers were treated and released at Schuylkill Medical Center.

A search warrant was obtained for Moyer’s car. The airbag control module of the Malibu was examined. Examination of the module revealed that the Malibu accelerated 5 seconds prior to impact. There was no braking and the Malibu’s approximate speed at impact was 91 MPH.

Moyer is charged with Criminal Attempt Homicide, Aggravated Assault, Simple Assault, Recklessly Endangering another Person,  and Criminal Mischief,
