It's been a hot debate for several months now; should Lt. Colonel Marcus Brown be named head of the Pennsylvania State Police?
On Wednesday morning, the Senate Law and Justice committee will hold a hearing to vote on whether or not to go with Governor Tom Wolf's pick.
Wolf nominated Brown back in January and since then retired state troopers as well as Republican leaders have spoken out against Wolf's decision.
They say Brown, who is a former Maryland State Police Superintendent, didn't earn the uniform because he did not graduate from the Pennsylvania State Police Academy.
In March, the Pennsylvania State Troopers Association along with top Republican Senators asked the Governor to recall Brown's nomination after he was caught on camera removing signs criticizing him.
The signs, which read 'Marcus Brown didn't earn it' and 'Marcus Brown don't wear it', were placed along a road near Brown's house in Cumberland County.
After an investigation, no charges were filed against Brown, however, the move brought forth even more criticism.
Despite the controversy, Governor Wolf is standing by Brown's nomination and believes he is the man for the job based on his qualifications which include more than 20 years in law enforcement positions in both Maryland and California.
Brown is currently the Acting State Police Commissioner.
The Law and Justice Committee will hold the confirmation hearing at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Capitol.
The committee, which consists of 11 members, will vote on Brown before sending it over to the full Senate for the final decision.
