CARROLL TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Northern York County School District buildings were placed on lock down Tuesday after a man suffered a mental breakdown outside Northern Elementary School, according to police reports.

The unidentified man was confronted by two school administrators, according to police. He then left the elementary school in a blue Chevrolet before officers arrived. Carroll Township Police contacted law enforcement agencies in Perry, Dauphin, Cumberland, Cumberland and York Counties in an effort to locate the man.

With the help of Pennsylvania State Police, Upper Allen Township Police and the York County Probation and Parole Department, the man was identified. He was taken into custody around 11:30 a.m. by officers with the New Cumberland Defense Depot, Susquehanna Police Department and York County Probation and Parole for a mental health evaluation.
