YORK, Pa. - York County is welcoming thousands of street rods, muscle and custom cars, as well as trucks to the area. It's all part of the 42nd Annual NSRA Street Rod Nationals East Plus, which is touring the town. The Street Rod Nationals are bringing  nearly 4,000 vehicles to the York Expo Center from across the region.  The  event is expected to make close to $9 million for the community. The classic cars have ridden into York for the last 35 years.

NSRA Street Rod Parade

On Friday, about 50 souped up cars and trucks rolled through the city to kick off the weekend's events. The parade left from the Expo Center on West Market Street and traveled east on Market Street through West York Borough and the city. It ended at Market and Broad Streets. People lined the streets to set their sights on some pretty sweet rides.

"Just seeing what they've done with them, some go very stock, some just go wild and so the variety is great," Shrewsbury resident Charlotte Walter said. "I think it's wonderful, and I hope they always continue it because it's a great tradition."

Walters says she enjoys the "eye candy" and that the cars take her back to the days when she dated her husband who drove a 1969 two-door Chevrolet Impala.
