Woman, 20, killed in three-vehicle crash in Silver Spring Township

SILVER SPRING TOWNSHIP, Pa.–A 20-year-old woman was killed and two others injured following an accident involving two vehicles and a tractor-trailer in Cumberland County on Saturday morning.

The accident was reported shortly after 9 a.m. along Carlisle Pike (Route 11) near Appalachian Drive in Silver Spring Township.

Nicole Lee Tubbs, of Newville, was driving in the northbound lane of Carlisle Pike when her vehicle hit the rear of a tractor-trailer driven by Kevin Black, 37, of Baltimore, Maryland, according to a news release from the Cumberland County coroner’s office.

The impact of the initial crash sent Tubbs’ vehicle into the southbound lane where she was struck by a vehicle driven by Joanne Wolf, 67, of Mechanicsburg, Cumberland County Coroner Charles Hall said in a news release.

Wolf and her passenger, George Wolf, 68, were taken by ambulance to the Penn State Hershey Medical Center for treatment, Hall said.

Tubbs was pronounce dead at the scene.

The accident remains under investigation.
