YORK – People in the City of York are helping local veterans with some friendly competition.
People gathered for the 1st Annual ‘Pitching for Patriots’ horseshoe competition at Prospect Hill Cemetery in York on Saturday.
80 people came out to play.
It’s all to raise money for a Veteran drop-in clinic.
The clinic will be for Vets seeking help to get back on their feet.. and in need of immediate housing.
The president of ‘Veterans Helping Hands in York’ says her father started this effort.
sadly, he passed away this past winter.. so she is taking up the cause in his memory.

Sandie Walker says, “There isn’t anything like this here in York.  The belief that no veteran should be on the street is as strong as my father’s belief was.  So, people are stepping up to the plate and helping us out in any way that they can.   So,  we’re grateful and very appreciative of all the help.”

The facility will need $200,000 to complete renovations.
