MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - A two alarm fire has left 13 people homeless in Middletown Borough, Dauphin County. The fire broke out at about 3:18 pm in a two story apartment building on the 100 block of Ann Street.  The first firefighters on the scene reported flames and heavy smoke spewing from the rear of the building.  A second alarm was sounded for additional manpower.

The firefighters attacked the blaze from front to rear and quickly knocked down the flames.  The fire is believed to have started in a first floor room in the back of the building. There were no reported injuries.  The American Red Cross is providing assistance to the homeless.

Firefighters from Lower Swatara, Highspire and Steelton assisted Middletown Fire Department. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
