MIDDLESEX TWP., Pa. – A Maryland man is dead in a single vehicle crash at the Carlisle Interchange of the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Cumberland County. It happened at about 12:35 pm in the westbound lane the exit at milepost 226 in Middlesex Township.  State Police say the 73 year old driver failed to make the right hand curve and traveled off the left shoulder into the grass.

The vehicle continued through the grass up an embankment to the bridge overpass. It then flipped up over the bridge. The vehicle continued to flip and roll onto the west side of the bridge and then down the other side of the embankment.  During the rollover the driver was ejected and ended up pinned beneath the rear of the vehicle.  He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Cumberland County Coroner.

The name of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. Pennsylvania State Police are investigating.
