WASHINGTON — Senator Bob Casey announced the appointments of local students to the United States military academies which include the  U.S. Naval, Coast Guard, Air Force, Military and Merchant Marine.

Cumberland County: John Hefferman – Merchant Marine Academy, Neil Painter – Merchant Marine Academy, Kaitlyn Dworak – Military Academy.

Lancaster County: Jesse Campanella – Naval Academy

York County: Bryce Carroll – Merchant Marine Academy, Cheyenne Philson – Naval Academy, but will join the Coast Guard Academy

All appointees were nominated by Senator Casey following an extensive application and and interview process.  The academies make the final selection for appointments.

The academies offer qualified applicants a unique opportunity to obtain a first-rate college education, as well as the chance to serve our country as a commissioned officer in the United States Military. All nominees are selected on merit, with consideration given to character, leadership potential, extracurricular activities and academic ability.
