There is a slight risk for severe weather across our region’s southern counties. A marginal risk is in place for our northern counties.

Overall, the ingredients aren’t very impressive, but a little sunshine breaking out at times could fuel some stronger thunderstorms later in the day, after 4 P.M.  Damaging winds and heavy downpours are the main threat, but some brief, weak tornadoes are possible as well as small hail.

The primary threat from Bill’s remnants, heavy rain, is still expected Saturday evening and Saturday night. The heaviest amounts are expected along the south and southeastern parts of our region, especially toward the Mason-Dixon line. As much as 2 to 3 inches are possible, with lesser amounts the more north and northwest you head. Urban areas along with small streams and creeks could see flooded areas. wx2Heavy tropical moisture will make for difficult driving conditions for any travelers or late night workers commuting through the night. Be ready to tack on extra time to your travels. By daybreak Sunday, the heaviest of the rain is out of the area, with perhaps a few leftover showers expected.
