SWATARA TOWNSHIP, Pa.–A fire that damaged four vehicles at an auto body shop in Swatara Township last month was started by a discarded cigarette, investigators said.

Kai A. Brown, 32, of Harrisburg, is charged with criminal mischief and dangerous burning.  Officers responded to Luke’s Auto Service at 3715 Derry Street for a reported vehicle fire on May 2.

Investigators found four vehicles engulfed in flames at the business. The fire caused $12,000 in damages.

Police said the fire had been started by a cigarette discarded by Brown.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 29.
