MANCHESTER TWP, York County, Pa. — Northern York County Regional Police Department saved a 26 year-old man who was overdosing on heroin by administering the medicine Naloxone, used to reverse the effects of opioids. This is the eighth time Northern York officers have used Naloxone in the field.

Police were called to a residence in the 2400 block of Clearsprings Road in Manchester Township around 6:30pm Sunday for a 26 year-old male who had overdosed on Heroin.

The man was found unresponsive, but breathing. An officer administered one dose of Naloxone nasal spray to the male to reverse the effects of the Heroin.

The male regained consciousness within a minute. The male was then transported to York Hospital by EMS for further treatment.

Northern York County Regional Police Officers began carrying Naloxone on Monday March 30, 2015 as part of a countywide initiative.

The York County Naloxone program is funded by the York County District Attorney’s Office.
