HARRISBURG, Pa. -- New trash and recycling containers are now being passed out to people living in Harrisburg.

The new containers will first be distributed to single-family homes in the Allison Hill section of the city. Officials say it should take about three weeks to reach most of those residents.

Throughout the summer, the city's Department of Public Works will pass out containers to those at apartment buildings, businesses, and other homes.

"Residents have to do nothing," says Harrisburg Mayor Eric Papenfuse. "Your rate doesn't change, nothing is changing."

Along with the new containers, there are some changes to what should and should not be recycled. People in Harrisburg are asked to put glass items in the trash or recycle them through the Dauphin County recycling program.
