OAK ISLAND, N.C. – A shipment of “SHARK ATTACK” shirts have arrived to a store in Oak Island, where two people were injured in recent shark attacks.

Oak Island Eagles Assistant Manager Terri Rowell told WECT that the store ordered the shirts before the June 14 shark attacks.

"It was just like a freak thing that this happened at the same time we got the shirts," Rowell said.

The decals arrived to the store on Thursday and employees printed them without hesitation, according to WECT.

The shirts read "SHARK ATTACK" and have an image of a shark with the words "OAK ISLAND, NC" underneath.

The store had reportedly sold more than a dozen of the shirts since Monday, which Rowell calls a good sale. The store said they haven’t had any negative comments about the shirts.

Two people, 12-year-old Kiersten Yow of Archdale and Hunter Treschel, a 16-year-old boy from Colorado Springs, Colo., were attacked by a shark at an Oak Island beach June 14.

Yow lost a portion of her left arm below the elbow and suffered injuries to her left leg. Treschel had his arm amputated beneath the shoulder.

The attacks happened at the same beach about 90 minutes apart from each other while both victims were standing in waist-deep water.
