YORK, Pa. -- Members of the York County NAACP held a vigil Tuesday night to remember the nine people who where shot and killed while attending a bible study at a South Carolina church.

The ceremony took place at Crispus Attucks on S. Duke Street. Those in attendance prayed together for the victims' families and the greater Charleston community. They also discussed what can be done to prevent a similar incident from happening again in the future.

"It's not just a state of South Carolina issue, it's a national issue," said Sandra Thompson, president of the York County NAACP. "That's why we here in York County should also be concerned. If we don't change the mindset, then that could reach York County as well."

Among those who were killed int he shootings were four church leaders, including Rev. Clementa Pinckney, who also served in the South Carolina Senate. His funeral will take place Friday. President Obama and Vice President Biden will attend the service.
